Strategies for Success in Managed Care
Rob Simione, CPA, Principal, SimiTree

Representing over 50% of the patient populations in areas of New York state, both Medicare Advantage and Medicaid Managed Care plans provide significant risks for agencies including reimbursement rates, difficulty processing claims and an increase in back-office costs needed to manage the administrative functions required by these plans. Attendees will learn how to review the Medicare and Medicaid Managed Care Landscape for Home Health and the VBID Model for Hospice; build relationships between Medicare Advantage Payers and Medicaid Managed Care providers by creating a value proposition through data analysis and understand where both Certified Home Health Agencies and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies and Hospice provide value to payers; and set up your organization to handle processing verification, authorization and claims processing with Medicare Advantage and Medicaid Managed Care Plans.

Understanding the Value of Medicare Home Health VBP: What Can Be Learned From The First Performance Year Of The National Expansion Of Value-Based Purchasing
Brian Harris, Consulting Director, SimiTree

As providers near the end of the first performance year of Value Based Purchasing (VBP), there are many lessons to be learned to support the continued drive for improved quality outcomes. The goal of this session is to provide an overview of information obtained from the Interim Performance Reports (IPRs) projecting agencies’ standing in the VBP program and discuss the translation of these reports to payment adjustments in 2025. This session will also take a look at the changes to the VBP measures included in the CY2024 Home Health Proposed Rule, and how these might impact agencies’ approaches to managing these measures.
